Warwick Castle, a medieval castle developed from a wooden fort, first built by William the Conqueror in 1068. Based in the county town of Warwickshire, England, situated the River Avon. The original wooden motte-and-bailey castle completely rebuilt in stone in the 12th century. This historic building has stood the test of time and its a grade 1 listed building.
It is now host to a medieval village. With tents and lodges on grounds for guests and reenactment shows featuring knights fighting. The on site staying options makes it the perfect place for those with small children as it prevents the need to get them from the hotel to the castle for each for each days you are there.
Warwick Castle was named one of Britain’s Top 10 historic houses and monuments by the British Tourist Authority. The castle’s reputation for being haunted is used as a tourist attraction with events such as “Warwick Ghosts Alive”, a live-action show telling the story of Fulke Greville’s murder. Making it a fun trip for anyone interested in England’s history.Â
